Current Job: Studio Engineer and Tech Assistant
A Bit About Me
CSBN is one of the most valuable experiences I had during my time at Chapman. A former member, Nick Huntley, recommended I try it out—and after my first game, I was hooked. The opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all roles in a live production environment was unmatched. I learned how to set up and operate nearly every aspect of a broadcast, while also developing the ability to collaborate with others under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations. One especially memorable experience was the night I directed my first football game—staying late to prep, frantically trying to understand the sport just enough to effectively call camera shots. That kind of on-the-fly learning truly defined CSBN for me. The skills I gained—technical knowledge, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving—have directly shaped my current role as a Tech Assistant and Studio Engineer, where I manage, maintain, and install small-scale television and broadcast studios. CSBN gave me the confidence to pursue a career in live production and helped me realize my goal of becoming a Live Production Engineer for sports or studio broadcasts. I graduated in 2022 after spending eight semesters with CSBN, and the experience continues to influence my professional journey every day.
