A Bit About Me
When I visited Chapman for a tour in the spring of 2014, I met professors, explored the sound stages, and even got to speak with Dave Goedhart. Growing up on set—both of my parents were industry pros—I recognized immediately that the facilities and people at Chapman were top-notch. But I wasn’t sold… until I met Wes Rapaport, a current student at the time. I told him I was looking for a Division I school with a huge sports presence to launch my career in sports reporting, and while Chapman was impressive, it didn’t have that. His response changed everything: “We’re starting that here,” he said, “and you can be a big part of it if you come to Chapman.” SOLD! That moment marked the beginning of my CSBN journey.
It may sound cliché, but CSBN was everything to me. I became one of the founding members, part of every broadcast from our very first in fall 2014 through my graduation in 2018. I was so committed that I wrote my own major—becoming the first Sports Media major at Chapman. Over those four years, I grew from an aspiring sideline reporter into a passionate live television producer and director. I launched Chapman’s first sports talk show, Tailgate Talk, and by the end of my senior year, I had produced every piece of live content that came out of the school. We were often asked how we got ESPN to cover Chapman games—that was the level we had reached. My closest friends, many of whom I still work with today, came from CSBN. Even my husband (then boyfriend) ran audio for our broadcasts.
What CSBN gave me—hands-on training, technical knowledge, and the resilience to push through challenges—has stuck with me to this day. I fought hard to become producer and club president my senior year, despite pushback from those who doubted me. Earning that role, and ultimately proving them wrong, taught me more than any classroom ever could. By the time I graduated, CSBN had become the biggest and best it had ever been, and we had laid the groundwork for future students to take it even further. Helping to start something that has gone on to impact so many talented people remains one of the proudest accomplishments of my life.
When we started CSBN back in 2014, the goal was simple: to have fun doing what we loved and learn along the way. We had no money, barely any resources, and leaned heavily on the generosity and mentorship of Dave Goedhart. None of us imagined the legacy we’d create. What CSBN is doing now often surpasses the quality of professional work I see. I’m blown away every time I get to work with current students—their professionalism and talent speak volumes. Rival schools in LA now hire CSBN students to run their broadcasts. That says everything.
I was part of CSBN for all eight semesters of my time at Chapman, graduating in 2018. Today, I produce and direct live entertainment in Los Angeles, primarily in the sports broadcasting and concert space. I’ve worked with teams like the Lakers, Kings, Sparks, UCLA, and USC, producing the in-house shows you see on the big screen at games. I also work multiple control room roles—TD, Xpression, Daktronics Show Control, Clickeffects, and camera shading. Outside of sports, I freelance produce for companies like Disney, Revo Studio, and PremiereTV, and I run my own production company creating children’s entertainment. CSBN was the springboard for all of it.
