ALEJANDRO FLORES

Graduated Fall 2024

4 Semesters with CSBN

Current Job: NonStopLocal MMJ Reporter

A Bit About Me

My dream was always to be a sports broadcaster and my orientation leader freshman year introduced our class to CSBN, a group of students (since it wasn’t a club yet) that all get together and produce Chapman sports games and I was instantly hooked because I wanted to become very involved in sports broadcasting.

CSBN will always hold a special place in my heart. After my first semester, I was considering transferring but CSBN was a huge factor in my decision to stay and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. To see the club evolve exponentially the way it did, it really showed we were making a difference and we were being recognized. My favorite part about CSBN was that everyone was welcomed, no matter your interests or major, nothing. It taught me how to work with others under tight deadlines and to be efficient and learn how to adapt in stressful situations

First semester of college and our men’s basketball team made the SCIAC semifinals and we hosted it and because it wasn’t for sure that we would, we had to put together a skeleton crew of about 12-15 people, including me as pxp, and it went amazing. Everyone came together and despite all the stressful situations, we adapted.

CSBN helped me with my career in understanding and learning something new quick. I didn’t know squat about cameras before CSBN but I was able to learn quickly and pick up on other tricks. CSBN also taught me how to do things on the fly and how to use critical thinking skills when you need to do something by yourself.

I am currently an MMJ Reporter with NonStopLocal in Yakima, Washington. My responsibilities include finding, writing, shooting, and editing a news package each day for our 5 pm and 6 pm newscast

My future goals include getting back into the sports industry and be a sports broadcaster. It’s still a huge passion of mine and I wanna work hard to get to that goal
